Tom graduated from Alter High School in 1978 and the University of Dayton in 1982 with a Bachelor of Science in Accounting. He was grounded in faith, family and community. Tom lived his faith. Mindful of the biblical passage, “To whom much is given, much is expected”, Tom was always concerned with those who weren’t as fortunate in life and did what he could to make their lives better. He made a significant impact as a dedicated member of the board of Alter High School, serving 11 years on the Finance and Executive Committees and guiding Alter to a strong financial foundation. Tom was a devoted family man, married for 33 years to Carol Hoying ‘78 Nikolai, and together they were blessed with four wonderful children: Grace ’10, Alex ’13, Joseph ’15 and Claire ’17, who were lucky to call him Dad. His proudest role was being their father; loving, encouraging and supporting them at every opportunity.
