The Bernadette Volpe Mitsch Scholarship was established in loving memory by husband, Robert Mitsch. Bernadette, a lifelong educator, graduated from Saint Mary’s College and dedicated herself to educating children, spending 35 years in the classroom teaching English and Language Arts. She initially taught at a Catholic School in Goshen, Indiana and then at Saint Peter’s in Huber Heights, but primarily within the Centerville School System. She and her husband Robert have two Alter graduates, Patrick ’95 and Brian ’07. Robert and Bernadette are passionate about Catholic education, the teaching profession, and Alter High School.

Award: $1,000

Criteria: Acceptance into a four-year college with intent to pursue a degree in education.
