On January 30th, pharmacist Dr. Christy Betiko talked to students about pharmacy programs and careers in pharmacy. There are seven pharmacy schools in Ohio offering differing pathways to obtain a Doctor of Pharmacy degree. Typically, this degree requires at least 6 years to complete. Accelerated or direct entry programs are also available. Dr. Betiko stressed the importance of shadowing a pharmacist now and during college to gain experience and to determine if pharmacy is the desired career. Also, she made it clear that there are so many more opportunities than just the local drug store and hospitals.
