Congratulations to Alter senior Sophia Shenk on receiving the Mayor’s Award for Service at the Kettering City Council Meeting. This award is given out to one young person a year who has given a lot of service and time to the community. Sophia earned this award by volunteering over 400 hours of service for programs ranging from the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society, St. Vincent De Paul, Learning Tree Farm, and several other agencies. Sophia volunteers for her church and cantor’s Masses for her peers at Alter. The past several years, Sophia has been an officer for Key Club and currently serves as Co-President of Key Club. This is the second year in a row that an Alter student has received this award with Annabelle Hacker receiving it last year. We are proud of Sophia and her service to the community.
