Over 220 people attended Alter’s annual Scholarship Recognition Breakfast to honor our scholarship benefactors who awarded 107 total scholarships to 81 students for the 2022-2023 school year. We were excited to see 55 of our generous benefactors, students, and parents gathering and getting to know each other. We heard from Principal Lambert and one of the benefactors of the Kurt Murnen Memorial Scholarship, Jay Murnen. He spoke to all students in his closing remarks saying, “by being here today and receiving your various scholarships, you are already great examples of what it is to be a Knight. But this and being a Knight won’t end when you walk out those doors. At some point in your lives, you might be in a position when it is your time to give back to the Alter community. Remember your scholarship donors for what you have received, so future Knights can continue to receive the same opportunities that you have.”
Three amazing students – sophomore Connor Watkins, junior Diya Percy and senior Kailey Smith – also spoke about their Alter experience and appreciation of being scholarship recipients. Kailey Smith summed it up with her opening statement, “When I think of Alter, there is only one word that comes to mind, and that is ‘home.’ When I am walking down the halls, I feel like I am right where I am supposed to be.”
