This scholarship was created in memory of John D. O’Brien, who was commissioned by Archbishop Alter to raise the necessary funds to build Archbishop Alter High School. The John D. O’Brien Scholarship will be awarded to a student that truly exemplifies what it means to be a team player, not necessarily the star student. The selected recipient will be a student who works hard, is respected by their peers, has a great attitude, is coachable and gives maximum effort.

Eligibility: Current Alter Junior

Essay: In 200-350 words describe how you exemplify what it means to be a leader among your peers. Someone who leads by example, sticks up for others, is a person of character, and an individual who is willing to take a stand against someone or something that is unjust and how you share a spirit for living life and enjoying life to its fullest!
