The Jack Ward Scholarship provides a $1000 tuition grant for any incoming or current student that desires and values an Alter High School, Catholic education. This yearly scholarship is awarded to a student that truly exemplifies what it means to be a leader among his or her peers. Someone who leads by example, sticks up for others, is a person of character, and an individual who is willing to take a stand against someone or something that is unjust. This person would also share a spirit for living life and enjoying life to its fullest, enriching the lives of those around them like Stuart did before his illness. Initial funding provided by Vic and Alexa Smith in honor of their deceased son, Stuart Smith ’04, who battled depression as a young adult.

Eligibility: Current or incoming freshmen

Essay: In 200-350 words describe how you exemplify what it means to be a leader among your peers. Someone who leads by example, sticks up for others, is a person of character, and an individual who is willing to take a stand against someone or something that is unjust and how you share a spirit for living life and enjoying life to its fullest!
