The Bernadette Volpe Mitsch Scholarship was established in loving memory by husband, Robert Mitsch. Bob and Bernadette value catholic education especially in higher education as both graduates from Catholic universities; Bob from the University of Notre Dame and Bernadette from Saint Mary’s College.
Bernadette dedicated herself to educating children, spending 35 years in the classroom teaching English and Language Arts. She initially taught at a Catholic School in Goshen, Indiana and then at Saint Peter’s in Huber Heights, but primarily within the Centerville School System. She and her husband Robert have two Alter graduates, Patrick ’95 and Brian ’07.
Award: $1,000 for a catholic university or $2,000 for those attending Notre Dame or St. Mary’s College
Criteria: Acceptance into a four-year Catholic college.
