Affordability
For over 60 years, Alter has nurtured the minds, hearts, and bodies of those who become Knights. Students arrive at Alter with their unique talents and gifts and graduate equipped to face the world as compassionate, confident, and prepared citizens. Our goal is to continue to make Alter a viable high school option using both public and private available resources.
For families who have applied for enrollment acceptance, we offer need-based and merit-based named scholarships. For those seeking financial support, it is available in this order:
- The Ohio EdChoice Scholarship Program
- Alter Tuition Assistance based on submission of the EdChoice Scholarship application and the FACTS Grant & Aid Assessment
- Alter awarded merit and need-based named scholarships
We encourage families to consider applying for all available resources. The greatest amount of financial support is available through Ohio’s EdChoice Scholarship program because all families, regardless of income level can receive an EdChoice Scholarship. The funnel of awards continues with Alter’s Tuition Assistance, and finally Alter’s Named Scholarships.
Edchoice, Tuition Assistance and Named Scholarships awards can only be granted to families who have applied for acceptance to Alter.
EdChoice Scholarship
Alter High School accepts Ohio Educational Choice Scholarships. The Educational Choice Scholarship Program, also called EdChoice, provides students from designated public schools the opportunity to attend participating private schools. The program also provides low-income students who are entering kindergarten through 12th grade scholarship opportunities.
Tuition Assistance
Tuition Assistance is the second level of financial support available. For those requesting Alter tuition assistance both an EdChoice Application and submission of the FACTS Grant & Aid Assessment is required.
FACTS Management is our vendor to provide families with an independent and confidential review of their financial situation. FACTS Management provides Alter an assessment to determine the level of qualified financial need that Alter can award.
The deadline for submitting the FACTS Grant & Aid Assessment application form is November 14. The application form, supporting documentation, and a $35 processing fee can all be submitted online.
Tuition assistance and named scholarship awards can only be granted to families who have applied for acceptance to the school and who have established a FACTS tuition agreement for the upcoming school year. Families who qualify for an award, will be notified via email. Awards will be posted directly to a family’s FACTS payment agreement.
Named Scholarships
Thanks to Alter’s benevolent community, a plethora of named scholarships are available for incoming freshmen and current students. Scholarships are both need-based (requires EdChoice Application and FACTS Grant & Aid Assessment) and merit-based scholarships. The list of scholarships and online application process can be accessed under the Scholarship tab.
Returning students to Alter follow the same process as incoming freshmen for consideration of tuition assistance and named scholarship awards.
