"Star Wars" - fear and Loathing in a galaxy far, far away (Review of the trilogy FROM DISNEY) No. 4

"Skywalker. Ascent- impressions without spoilers, immediately after viewing.

JJ came back to save the franchise, but really just shot him in the head. The director is somehow trying to keep the story to the rules that Ryan Johnson introduced into it, while simultaneously creating new ones. At first, the movie really looks like "Star Wars". But later, the viewer sees how "Ascension" tries to please everyone - old fans, new ones, children, fans of the expanded universe, environmentalists (which is worth the scene where horses jump on a spaceship), advocates for free love and free relationships. It all flies at the viewer from the screen, mixed with a lot of new information, new rules of the world and characters. In the end, all this nonsense just crumbles in Abrams' fingers.

During the viewing, the clapping from the facepalm in the cinema slowly changed to nervous giggles, and at the end of the film turned into hysterical laughter.

Let's go through a little bit of what Abrams made up, feverishly trying to close all the storylines en masse.:

In the third film, an old and new antagonist is introduced, which was not even hinted at in the previous parts.

The death star from "Return of the Jedi" did not explode, but simply crumbled and fell from space to Endor. The wreckage is still there, and there's even glass in the windows.

The force is now capable of anything, up to reviving the dead, and anyone can become sensitive to it. Moreover, one of the characters strangely begins to "feel" not only fluctuations in Power, but also electromagnetic radiation.

Death is now a big level-up for a Jedi. You shouldn't be afraid of her.

There are several McGuffins here at once, among them such a fascinating scenario solution as a map that leads to a map.

The former romantic feelings between the characters are forgotten, new ones flare up, and of course they don't get any development, because the film is full of unnecessary events, and so it goes for the damn 2.5 hours.

And of course. Darth Vader, aka Enekin Skywalker, lived and died in vain.

At first, I thought that the franchise would be built on driving a car in which the wayward Ryan Johnson was briefly allowed to drive, and then they tried their best to get the car back on the highway. At least the trailers and theories around the third episode still gave some hope that JJ would make it.

But in reality, "Star Wars&"they look different. They were stopped in an alley and severely beaten, and then they mocked the corpse. Everything was planned from the very beginning, but it happened clearly and coolly.

Verdict: The new trilogy of short-lived Disney fanfiction deserves nothing but oblivion.
